God of washings and renewals, my child has been birthed through water and blood into this world of living air— all created by you. Here, I bathe my tiny babe in these waters of washing to cleanse them of muck mire fluid grime. May the cleansing from their birth remind me of my rebirth by the blood of Christ, the washing of my soul from sin, my daily purification in you. May this first bath foreshadow the waters of renewal— their own baptism into you. We praise you for these waters of redemption, to the glory of the Father through Christ the Son by the sanctifying Spirit. Amen.
